What makes WaveBag LIGHT different
- Wave Technology paper cushioning in place of plastic bubble film
- Finger lift adhesive closure: the liner is wider than the adhesive, so it peels off easily
- Compact to store: when the mailer is empty, the paper waves fit into each other and reduce its thickness, so up to twice as many mailers fit on a pallet
- Resists rain and water splashes (not waterproof)
- Made with 100% recycled paper and recyclable with paper according to local collection guidelines
- Logo marking, custom printing and dedicated graphic solutions available; private label available for B2B distributors and resellers

Lab test results
In independent laboratory tests carried out in 2023, WaveBag LIGHT was compared with a traditional bubble mailer. The laboratory rated the two as comparable in all four tests.
| Test | WaveBag LIGHT | Traditional bubble mailer | Lab result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tensile strength (N/mm, UNI EN ISO 527-3) | 5.35 | 5.05 | Comparable |
| Seal strength (N/mm, UNI EN ISO 527-3) | 0.59 | 0.59 | Comparable |
| Puncture resistance, Ø15 mm sample (N) | 32.81 | 35.53 | Comparable |
| Puncture resistance, Ø35 mm sample (N) | 47.29 | 30.21 | Comparable |
| Impact protection: 225 g ball dropped on a CD case inside the mailer | No breakage at 85 mm; breakage at 100 mm | No breakage at 85 mm; breakage at 100 mm | Comparable |
Values are averages of five samples. Without a mailer, the CD case broke at a 50 mm drop.
Typical uses
Recyclability and certifications
WaveBag products are made with 100% recycled paper. They are assessed as recyclable with paper at Level B under the Aticelca 501:2025 evaluation system, and as technically recyclable in paper mills with a conventional recycling process, based on independent testing (Innovhub, 2026) to the CEPI recyclability laboratory test method. Dispose of them with paper according to your local collection guidelines. WaveBag products comply with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). FSC® and PEFC™ certified products are available on request.
Frequently asked questions
Is WaveBag LIGHT recyclable?
Yes. WaveBag LIGHT is made with 100% recycled paper and assessed as recyclable with paper under Aticelca 501 (Level B), based on testing to the CEPI recyclability laboratory test method. Dispose of it with paper according to your local collection guidelines.
What sizes does WaveBag LIGHT come in?
Ten sizes, coded A/000 to K/7, from 110 × 207.5 mm to 350 × 470 mm internal. Boxes hold 100 or 200 envelopes depending on size; a pallet holds 1,200 to 7,200.
How is WaveBag LIGHT different from a bubble mailer?
Instead of a plastic bubble layer, WaveBag LIGHT uses Wave Technology, a corrugated paper structure designed to absorb shocks and vibrations. The envelope is paper-based and recyclable with paper, and when it is empty the paper waves fit into each other (about 4 mm of cushioning thickness), so up to twice as many mailers fit on a pallet. In independent laboratory tests, WaveBag LIGHT performed comparably to a traditional bubble mailer.
How protective is WaveBag LIGHT?
In independent laboratory tests (2023), WaveBag LIGHT performed comparably to a traditional bubble mailer for tensile strength, seal strength, puncture resistance and impact protection. In the impact test, a CD case inside WaveBag LIGHT withstood a 225 g ball dropped from 85 mm; without protection it broke at 50 mm.
Can WaveBag LIGHT be printed with my branding?
Yes. Logo marking, custom printing and dedicated graphic solutions are available, custom sizes can be made for specific projects, and WaveBag LIGHT can be supplied as a private-label product to B2B distributors and resellers.
Is WaveBag LIGHT compliant with the PPWR?
Yes. WaveBag LIGHT complies with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR, Regulation (EU) 2025/40). All WaveBag products are made with 100% recycled paper and are recyclable with paper (Aticelca 501, Level B).
