Developed entirely in-house
The WaveBag project started in 2017, building on Offmar's more than 40 years of experience in the design and manufacture of packaging converting machinery. WaveBag was developed entirely in-house, from the protective packaging concept and patented technology to the machinery used for its industrial production, combining mechanical engineering, paper converting expertise and real industrial production know-how.
At the heart of the range is Wave Technology, Offmar's patented corrugated paper cushioning structure, designed to provide protection while keeping packaging compact and recyclable with paper.
Offmar's history
Offmar was founded in 1973 in Arignano, in the province of Turin. In 1976, the company launched its first machine for producing padded envelopes and, over the following decades, developed its expertise in the design and manufacture of packaging converting machinery.
This engineering background became the foundation for WaveBag. In 2017, Offmar began developing a new paper-based protective packaging solution, working not only on the product itself but also on the machinery required to manufacture it.
The WaveBag product, its production process and the machines used to produce it were developed internally by Offmar. The first WaveBag products reached the market in 2018.
What WaveBag is
WaveBag is a range of paper-based protective packaging solutions for e-commerce, shipping, retail and industrial applications.
The range includes LIGHT, STRONG, RETURNED and 3D padded mailers, POUCH, ROLL and WRAP cushioning solutions, and the TUBE protective sleeve.
All WaveBag products share Wave Technology, a patented corrugated paper cushioning structure designed to combine protection with a compact packaging format. The technology is protected by Italian patent no. 0001423282 and European patent EP 2930123.
WaveBag products are made using 100% recycled paper and are recyclable with paper at Aticelca 501:2025 Level B.
Because the technology, product and production machinery were developed within the same company, Offmar can work directly on the evolution of both the packaging and the industrial process behind it.
Recognition
